Hi!  My name is Alex Luther and I am a 5th grade teacher here at Millbrook Elementary.  This is my sixth year at Millbrook and my fifth full year of teaching 5th grade.

I took a bit of a winding road to get to my teaching career.  I often tell people that I did not know what I wanted to be when I grew up until I was in my 40's!  I graduated from Belmont Abbey College with a BA in Sports Management ('98) and worked as an insurance adjuster from 1998-2009.  For the next 10 years I was a stay-at-home dad to three wonderful children.  I began volunteering in schools and found my true passion.  I graduated from Western Governor's University with a Master of Arts in Teaching: Elementary Education in 2018.

I believe in a positive and safe classroom environment in which every child is given the opportunity to succeed.  I also believe that parent involvement is crucial and to that end, I am in constant contact with my parents via the Class Dojo app, which is the best way to contact me day or night.
