• The READ 180/SYSTEM 44 classroom is a class where students who are below grade level in Reading receive interventions, which will build their skills and help them become successful. According to ACT 284 (READ TO SUCCEED), beginning with the 2017-2018 school year, a student must be retained in the third grade if the student fails to demonstrate reading proficiency at the end of the school year, based on scores received on the SC READY Reading Assesssment. Our program will help fill in the gaps before the students get to this point. The design of this program revolves around three rotations. At one rotation, students work independently on computer software at their reading level. In a second rotation, they are divided into guided reading groups, where they receive direct instruction, based on their needs. At the final rotation, the students are able to choose books on their levels and read independently, completing tasks with each assignment. Goals are set for each student and celebrations are held when these goals are met. We look forward to a great year and hope to see major growth in the students that qualify.

  • We will be using our Millbrook P.R.I.D.E. expectations in our classrooms.

           P - Prepared - Make sure you have all your materials ready for each rotation.

           R - Respectful -  Respect your teacher, classmates, equipment, and materials.

           I - Independent - Do your own work. Do not copy someone else's work.

           D - Determined - Set a goal and be determined to reach it.

           E - Engaged - Always stay busy in each rotation. Do not waste time.

     

    I will be utilizing the CLASS DOJO system for parent communication.
