Welcome to the first grade!   I am excited about starting a new school year and am looking forward to working with your child!   I have been a first grade teacher at Millbrook for 14 years now; however, this will be my 20th year of teaching.   I have taught first and second grades but first grade is where my heart is.   I love teaching children how to read and watching them grow as a learner thoughout the year.   I have an undergraduate degree from Lander University and a Master's degree from Columbia College in Divergent Education.   

Aside from teaching, I am a mom to two teenagers who keep me very busy after school.  They are involved in baseball and dance.   I also enjoy reading and running. One of my most favorite things to do is visit  the beach.  I find it peaceful and relaxing to sit by the shore and listen to the waves crash, feel the gentle sea breeze, and breathe in the salty ocean air.  I try to bring in that feeling of peacefulness by having a beach themed classroom.  I hope your child finds it just as inviting as I do.
