  • MS. TERRY’S MAKE-UP ASSIGNMENTS POLICY

    • If a student is absent for 2–5 days, an excused note is required.
    • The excused note will be handed in to the attendance office.
    • Students will be given # of days missed to turn in make-up work and make up assignments/assessments upon return to school.
    • For absences > 5 days, administration will determine the number of days allowed to make-up assignments and assessments.
    • Administration reserves the right to deny a student the privilege of making up assessments with their teachers after an absence.
    • Students are responsible for checking Schoology for lesson plans and the assignments they missed while absent. Students may only take make-up assessments during ILT at Ms. Terry’s discretion.

    MS. TERRY'S ASSESSMENT RETAKE POLICY

    • Ms. Terry does not offer retakes on essays, projects, quizzes, homework, or classwork.
    • Students can only retake end of unit tests consisting of multiple choice, true/false, matching, and/or short answer questions. Scores at or below 79% may be retaken. Students can only retake a test if all missing work in the correlated unit is completed and turned in.
    • Students retaking a test will not be given the same test as the first one. Instead, students will have to look up each incorrect answer, correct it, and explain where the answer is and why they missed it. The retake test will also include an essay component that correlates to the unit being retested.
  • MS. TERRY’S LATE ASSIGNMENTS POLICY

WHEN WILL LATE ASSIGNMENTS BE ACCEPTED

    • Late assignments will be accepted until one week from the due date. For example, if an assignment is due on a Friday, then that work cannot be turned in any later than the next Friday.

    CONSEQUENCES FOR LATE ASSIGNMENTS

    • 10 points off per day late

WHAT STUDENTS SHOULD EXPECT WHEN TURNING IN LATE ASSIGNMENTS

    • Late assignments are graded last which could take several weeks.

    MS. TERRY'S CELL PHONE POLICY

Aiken High has a no-tolerance policy for students using their cell phones or headphones in the classroom or hallways. Ms. Terry will provide students with a safe area to charge their cell phones and headphones during class time. If students choose not to put their cell phones and headphones in the designated classroom areas and are found to be using their devices during class time, their devices will be confiscated, given to an administrator, and the student will be written up for violating the classroom policy.
